Board Policy BP 5131.9 Students
Academic Honesty The Board of Education believes that academic honesty and personal integrity are fundamental components of a student's education and character development. the Board expects that students will not cheat, lie, plagiarize or commit other acts of academic dishonesty.

The Board expects students to respect the educational purpose underlying all school activities. All students need to prove to themselves that they can do successful work as a result of their own efforts.
Students, parents/guardians, staff and administrators shall be responsible for creating and maintaining a positive school climate that encourages honesty. Students found to have committed an act of academic dishonesty shall be subject to district and school-site discipline rules.

When an incidence of academic dishonesty occurs, parents/guardians shall be contacted and asked to make sure that their children have adequate time to study at home.
Teachers shall instruct students in research and study skills appropriate to each subject, so that all students may feel confident that if they prepare, they can succeed. Students shall be encouraged to see tests as a means for finding out what they have learned.
