Palos Verdes Peninsula
Board Policy BP 3291 Business and Noninstructional Operations
Site Based Grants And Awards The Board of Education believes that careful planning is essential to the effective use of scarce resources. Comprehensive plans shall identify strategies for school improvement and expressly support Board of Education Goals and district objectives.
The primary goal of the use of all school site grants and awards is to improve the quality of the learning experience for all the school's students. School-level plans may be developed to meet the unique circumstances of individual school sites provided that they are consistent with law, district vision, Board policies, administrative regulations, and district-wide plans.
In aligning site expenditures with district goals, school sites shall first consider allocating grant and award funds to addressing health and safety issues at the site, ensuring energy efficient operation of school systems, assess the state and condition of playground equipment, and assess the quality of library resources and supplementary instructional materials. Site Councils shall review the modernization needs of the school and determine whether non-funded needs can be addressed through the use of these resources.
School sites shall carefully consider the problems associated with hiring personnel with thee funds. Before grants or awards may be used for hiring personnel, an analysis of the one-term benefits of such expenditures must be conducted prior to Board approval.
