Community Relations

School-Connected Organizations

The Board of Education recognizes that parents/guardians and members of the school community may wish to organize clubs for the purpose of supporting special school related programs. These programs may include athletic teams, debate teams, school musical groups, academic groups, performing groups, graduation committees, and other activities which provide a source of positive involvement for students.

While the Board is supportive of such activities, and welcomes the interest and participation of parents/guardians in various aspects of student life, it recognizes that school groups are not functions of the school or the district. Whereas these groups act and operate independently of the school and the district, they are governed by the provisions of the Education Code in their activities and must conform to the policies and administrative regulations of the district.

School connected organization shall be especially careful not to seek advantages for the activities they support if those advantages might be detrimental to the larger school program. In order to protect the district and the students, the Superintendent or designee shall establish appropriate control for the relationship between such organizations and the district.

Groups desiring to be recognized as school-connected organizations shall request authorization from the Board in accordance with conditions established in administrative regulations.
